Tidbits of information and mysteries solved within the House Intel report.
There was always a question as to what happened and why with regards to BuzzFeed publishing the unverified and demonstrably false Steele dossier paid for by the Clinton campaign.
Multiple news oganizations had recieved leaked copies of the dossier, but nobody had published because a) it was not verifiable, and b) there was no news ‘hook’ that would allow publishing. When BuzzFeed finally released the dossier, it cited a CNN news blerb as it’s hook. That CNN blerb stated:
“Classified documents presented last week to President Obama and President-elect Trump included allegations that Russian operatives claim to have compromising personal and financial information about Mr. Trump, multiple US officials with direct knowledge of the briefings tell CNN.”
So, the whodunnit became who was the leaker. Well, thanks to the house committee report we have our answer: Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
Timeline:
News outlets including CNN have the dossier and are looking for an excuse to run it.
Clapper tells Comey to brief Trump on the dossier just in case CNN or someone runs with it.
1/6/17 Comey briefs Trump on just the salacious details.
1/7/17 Clapper leaks back to CNN that Trump and Obama have been briefed on the dossier.
1/10/17 CNN uses this as the news hook and publishes a story on the dossier.
Buzzfeed dumps the entire dossier.
Clapper denies the leak.
Clapper admits the leak.
Clapper hired by CNN.
In short: the Director of National Intelligence orchestrated the publishing of unverifiable and demonstrably false opposition research for the purpose of undermining the President Elect shortly before his inauguration.

“paid for by the Clinton campaign.”
True, but actually started and paid for by conservative website The Washington Free Beacon, which was then funded by a Marco Rubio donor. The Clinton campaign and the DNC were just picking up what Rubio started.
ETA: Clapper is a made man. Your public service career through Bush, Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama isn’t cut short by a little thing like perjury.

I’m sorry but we only use alternative facts in MK’s posts, please revise your comment to respect his fictional reality.

Cool it. The Clinton campaign and the DNC did pick up the tab for what a republican candidate’s campaign started.

This was via the 100% partisan and superficial “intelligence” release today, yes? CNN is supposedly fake news anyway, so I guess that’s how it goes.
Meh, still more amused to see what will happen with Cohen who has never been to Prague, Manafort, Mueller, et al. Also amused by the apparatchik that Uday and team met with (along with Manafort and several more in the campaign with no ties to Stalputin and the kleptocrats whatsoever) admitting she is indeed an informant. The lack of hard sanctions and harsh words against Stalputin are also fun. I wonder if Javanka will summer again with Wendi Deng this year.

The American people can all rest easily now that Devin Nunes has released his completely factual, non-biased, bipartisan report absolving the President of any malfeasance and making it clear that it was all Hillary’s fault. Our long national nightmare is finally over, and we can continue to Make America Great Again™.

Little did they know that President Trump wouldn’t need any help from outsiders in undermining his Presidency.
Also, anyone who actually cares if someone gets pissed on by hookers, or grabs women by the pussy, or rapes their wife, or commits adultery wasn’t voting for Trump anyways. That’s why so many evangelicals voted for him.

I love how every time the Republican majority of the House Intelligence Committee releases a conclusion, you automatically take it as gospel (completely ignoring the partisan stakes involved in them doing so). Nunes has done some questionable things in the past, making it abundantly clear he’s trying to help Trump any way he can, not get to the truth of matters. How about you put this shit on hold until the Mueller investigation is completed, then we’ll talk about all the facts, hm?
